About UsWe have adopted an individualized program that allows children to choose their own art materials and invent their own projects. The program (called “Teaching for Artistic Behavior” or TAB) is an exciting way for students to learn how to think and act like artists. I look forward to seeing the program develop in the years to come.

Who We Are |
Class starts with a very brief lesson covering techniques, or project ideas. Then students are given the freedom to create their own art. Through the experience of designing their own projects, students learn to be creative thinkers who know how to organize themselves and plan things out.
Studio options are open in stations like Drawing, Painting, Collage, Paper Sculpture, 3D Design, Printmaking, and Clay. A single project may take materials from multiple stations. Students can take all the time they need to finish a project, provided they are engaged in their work. When students make artistic choices for themselves, they start to understand where ideas come from. Students get better at designing their own projects, and realize that art ideas come from everywhere, but most especially themselves. By designing their own projects, students learn to be creative thinkers who know how to organize themselves and plan things out. |
